Reps. Jarrells, Williams' Bipartisan Bill Passes in Ohio Legislature, Moves to Governor's Desk

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) and Majority Whip Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.) Wednesday celebrated the Ohio House and Senate’s passage of House Bill (HB) 57, which expands access to overdose-reversal drugs in schools. The bipartisan bill passed with a vote of 28-4 in the Ohio Senate and 76-18 in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Ohio Democrats Fight for Fair, Constitutional Maps Absent Republican Proposal, Delays in Redistricting Process

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus), alongside the House Democratic members on the Joint Committee on Congressional Redistricting today advocated for a hearing on House Bill (HB) 442. Monday’s first public hearing did not include a Republican proposed map. Democrats will continue to hold Republicans accountable for their attempt to tip the scales of democracy with extreme partisan gerrymandering, at the request of President Donald Trump.

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Dontavius L. Rep. Jarrells: Republicans' Veto Override Leaves Local Communities Holding the Bag, Still No Real Property Relief for Majority of Ohioans

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today voted “NO” on the vote to override a school district property tax levy restriction provision vetoed in House Bill 96 (the state operating budget). Line-item 66 would eliminate several types of levies, limiting the choices voters have in how to support their schools and local governments, and would not provide real property tax relief to Ohioans. Real property tax relief is one of the most pressing needs for everyday Ohioans. House Democrats are ready and willing to work together to get that done.
