COLUMBUS — State Reps. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus), Christine Cockley (D-Columbus), Darnell Brewer (D-Cleveland), and State Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) hosted a Prevent, Listen, Act, Navigate (P.L.A.N.) Ohio town hall at the Hilltop Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Constituents and local advocates engaged in conversations discussing programming and policies to address gun violence prevention, survivor support, and firearm safety.

“Gun violence is a crisis that touches every corner of our society, our schools, our neighborhoods, and our homes. When we come together to share our stories, listen to different perspectives, and seek common ground, we lay the foundation for real, lasting change. This is not about politics. It’s about people. About keeping our communities safe, our children safe, and our future secure,” said Rep. Jarrells.

The event is part of the House Democratic Caucus’ P.L.A.N. Ohio initiative, which aims to:

  • Prevent gun violence through education and safe firearm storage practices;
  • Listen to community concerns around trauma response;
  • Act through civic engagement and legislative advocacy; and
  • Navigate available resources for mental health care, youth programs, and survivor support.

P.L.A.N. Ohio town halls will also be hosted in Toledo, Youngstown, and Cleveland to raise awareness, promote safety, and provide tools that help build safer communities for all Ohioans.
