Rep. Jarrells Announces $999K in State Funding to Support Local Infrastructure, Healthcare, and Education Projects
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board approved more than $999K in state funding for key projects that will benefit students, healthcare workers, and residents in Central Ohio.
Columbus State Community College will receive $555K for classroom upgrades, IT improvements, and workforce development programming. Additionally, the Columbus Developmental Center will receive $444K for critical infrastructure improvements and expanded onsite psychiatric care.
“These investments are a testament to our commitment to improving lives at every level, whether that is classrooms or healthcare facilities,” said Rep. Jarrells. “This funding will ensure students have access to the latest tools to succeed, while also providing residents at the Columbus Developmental Center with the essential care and living conditions they deserve.”
Details about the projects approved are:
- Columbus State Community College - $555K
- Lab Renovations: Funding will support modernization of science and technical labs to better equip students for careers in high-demand fields.
- Computer Lab Upgrades: This project replaces outdated faculty and student PCs with modern systems to support learning and instruction.
- RAPIDS Equipment Grant: Workforce training funds will support the Regional Advanced Manufacturing Partnership by expanding training capacity for aviation and healthcare students.
- Columbus Developmental Center - $444K
- Roof Replacements: Multiple roof sections will be repaired or replaced to improve safety and energy efficiency.
- Onsite Psychiatric Care: The funding will support contracted psychiatric services to provide residents with improved, direct mental health care access.
