The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 85, also known as “Erin’s Law,” which provides a pathway for schools to educate students in grades K-12 about the dangers of sexual abuse and about sexual violence prevention in an age-appropriate manner. The bill was sponsored by State Representatives Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) and Dan Ramos (D-Lorain).

Today House Bill 285, which allows pharmacists to dispense additional refills to patients, unanimously passed the Ohio House. State Representative Robert Sprague (R-Findlay) sponsored this bill in an effort to cut costs for pharmacies, patients, and healthcare providers.

Today, the Ohio House of Representatives passed a bill jointly sponsored by State Representative Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) that increases penalties for strangulation in domestic violence situations.

The Ohio House of Representatives today passed legislation that makes incremental updates to various provisions of Ohio’s probate and estate statutes. Developed in close consultation with the Ohio State Bar Association, the bill contains updates on twelve subjects in state law aimed at ensuring that wealth and property can be transferred from generation to generation efficiently and expediently.

By a unanimous vote of 90-0, the Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 130, also known as DataOhio, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) and Christina Hagan (R-Alliance).  A nearly identical bill passed the Ohio House last session by a unanimous vote of 92-0, but did not have time to pass the Ohio Senate during ‘lame duck’ session.

Today, State Representatives Louis Terhar (R-Cincinnati) and Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) applauded the passage of House Bill 490 by the Ohio House, legislation designating January 31st as Omphalocele Awareness Day.

State Representative Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) today announced the passage of House Bill 435, legislation he sponsored creating a state bond bank, which would be able to issue loans to local governments.

House Bill 63 was passed by the Ohio House today, which expands the crime of endangering children to prohibit a person from selling or transferring, or attempting to sell or transfer, a child for any value.

The Ohio House today passed House Bill 388, which allows judges to grant the use of ignition interlock for individuals on their first OVI offense. This legislation, sponsored by State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville), is also known as “Annie’s Law,” named after Scherer’s constituent, Annie Rooney, who at age 36 lost her life to a drunk driver in 2013.

State Representative Doug Green (R-Mt. Orab) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 28, legislation urging the United States Congress to pass, and the President to sign into law, the Toxic Exposure Research Act of 2015.
