Miller's Bill Modernizing Cosmetology and Barber Licensing Advances in Ohio House

On Tuesday, legislation introduced by State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) and State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) has been unanimously approved by the House Commerce and Labor Committee. The legislation modernizes the statutes authorizing the Cosmetology and Barber Board and updates statutes to harmonize the regulations and processes of the board to better serve licensees.

Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus Convenes First Meeting of the 136th General Assembly

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus, a coalition of legislators committed to advancing a culture of life in Ohio, held its inaugural meeting of the 136th General Assembly. State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) was officially named Chair of the caucus, which now comprises 31 state representatives dedicated to creating policy that protects life, empowers women, and strengthens families across the state.

Rep. Melanie Miller Votes on Budget Plan that Delivers Historic Property Tax Relief for Ohioans, Implements Flat Tax

State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) this week voted in support of Am. Sub. House Bill 96 – the State Operating Budget. The budget plan, which allocates funding for state programs and operations for the next two years, includes provisions that aim to protect freedom, family and fiscal responsibility – approving historic property tax relief for Ohioans, implementing a flat tax rate and providing a record amount of state funding for school districts.

Miller, Jarrells Provide Sponsor Testimony to Create the Ohio Sports Commission

Representatives Miller & King Give Sponsor Testimony for SOS (Secure Our Schools) Act

State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) and Angie King (R-Celina) provided sponsor testimony in House Finance Committee on House Bill 106, the Save Our Schools (SOS) Act (formerly known as Alyssa’s Law) – legislation that works to enhance safety in Ohio school districts and communities by creating a pilot grant program that will allow schools the opportunity to purchase a variety of panic alert systems as well as artificial intelligence firearm detection software. These panic alert systems work to help accelerate law enforcement response time when life-threatening emergencies occur on school campuses.

Miller Votes in Support of House Budget Bill, Approving Billions in Property Tax Relief for Ohioans

COLUMBUS – State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) last week voted in support of Am. Sub. House Bill 96 – the House’s version of the State Operating Budget. Never Alone Act Signed into Law

COLUMBUS- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed the Never Alone Act, sponsored by State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) and Beth Lear (R-Galena) into law during a signing ceremony recently held at the Statehouse.

 

House Bill 236 previously passed with a unanimous vote of 89-0 in the Ohio House.  The Act ensures every patient has access to an advocate to be with them in a hospital, nursing home, or other congregate care setting - especially during a health emergency.

Never Alone Act Passes General Assembly

COLUMBUS- The Ohio House of Representatives concurred with the Ohio Senate this week on the Never Alone Act, sponsored by State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) and Beth Lear (R-Galena).

Miller, Ashland County Delegation Tour Southern Border

COLUMBUS, OH – State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) toured the southern U.S. border in Cochise County, Arizona this week alongside Ashland Mayor Matt Miller and incoming Ashland County Sheriff Kurt Schneider.

The Ashland County delegation met with Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels and local law enforcement to gain a firsthand understanding of how federal policy is affecting illegal immigration.

Miller Delivers Millions in Transformative Capital Funding

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state, announced State Representative Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland).  The bill will allocate more than $4.2 billion for capital projects, including $717 million in one-time project funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund.

Miller Honors Ashland High School Boys Bowling Team with Resolution on House Floor for Being Named National Champions

COLUMBUS, OH – State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) presented a resolution from the Ohio House Representatives to the Ashland High School Boys Bowling Team, during a recognition ceremony on the House floor. The representative invited the team to recognize their national championship win earlier this summer.
