State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) encourages citizens of Ashland and Medina Counties to nominate distinguished veterans within the community for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame class of 2023.

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services is accepting nominations for men and women who have served in the armed forces that have continued to serve their communities through public service, volunteering, and more.

“Our men and women in the armed forces all deserve praise for their courage and bravery in serving our country,” Miller said. “I’m pleased to announce these nominations being available to those veterans who have gone above and beyond with their efforts and dedication to our communities throughout the 67th House District.”

Both Ashland and Medina Counties have had several veterans become inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.

The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, launched in 1992, is dedicated to honoring veterans that have certain achievements and contributions outside of and beyond military service.

To be eligible for the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, a veteran nominee must meet certain criteria. The nominee must have been recognized for post-military achievements, be a past or current Ohio resident, received an honorable discharge, and be of good moral character. Additionally, the veteran must have made significant contributions at the local, state, or national level by achieving excellence in their selected fields.

For more information on the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame and to submit a nomination, visit the Ohio Department of Veterans Services website at www.dvs.ohio.gov. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 1.
