COLUMBUS – The Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus, a coalition of legislators committed to advancing a culture of life in Ohio, held its inaugural meeting of the 136th General Assembly. State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) was officially named Chair of the caucus, which now comprises 31 state representatives dedicated to creating policy that protects life, empowers women, and strengthens families across the state.

“We are united in our commitment to be a voice for the voiceless and to build policies that affirm the dignity of every human life,” said Chairwoman Melanie Miller, who is currently serving her second term in the Ohio House and her 10th year as Executive Director of a pregnancy care center in Ohio. “As someone who has walked alongside countless women facing unplanned pregnancies, I know firsthand the challenges they face—and the incredible courage they show. This caucus will work to ensure they are met with compassion, support, and real solutions. Together, we will champion life, not just in word, but in action.”

Mission and Goals of the Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus:

  • Protect Life: Advocate for legislation that defends the unborn and affirms the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
  • Help Women: Promote policies that provide practical resources, health care access, mental health services, housing assistance, and emotional support to pregnant women, new mothers, and families.
  • Strengthen Families: Encourage programs and initiatives that support strong family foundations, parental rights, foster care and adoption reform, and child welfare in Ohio.
  • Increase Awareness and Education: Equip lawmakers and the public with evidence-based research, testimony, and data about the value of life and the impact of pro-life policies.
  • Build Coalitions: Collaborate with faith-based, medical, educational, and community organizations to advance a unified pro-life vision.
  • Engage the Next Generation: Support pro-life youth leadership development and educational programming in schools and communities.

In addition to its legislative efforts, the caucus will:

  • Host special events, including gatherings before the Ohio March for Life to unite lawmakers, advocates, and constituents.
  • Feature expert guest speakers who specialize in areas such as maternal health, adoption, and prenatal care.
  • Promote and strengthen Pregnancy Care Centers across Ohio by building awareness and encouraging partnerships with community organizations.
