Miller Reintroduces Legislation to Address Proposed Highway Interchange
COLUMBUS – This week, State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) reintroduced legislation to repeal and replace an interchange project in the district with a traffic congestion study. Representative Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) will serve as joint sponsor.
“One of the most distressing parts of the current interchange project is the demolition of homes,” said Miller. “Families who have planned their lives, including retirement, along Boston Road, would have their dreams ripped away.”
The bill repeals a portion of the State Transportation Budget for fiscal years 2024-25, which requires the Ohio Department of Transportation to construct an I-71 interchange on Boston Road in the City of Brunswick.
Through the legislation, the Director of Transportation, along with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency will conduct a study to develop a traffic congestion management plan.
“I will continue to advocate for the preservation of the homes, the communities and the voices of my constituents in the city of Brunswick,” said Miller. “I look forward to creating a better solution to the traffic concerns in the community.”
State Senator Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario) will be reintroducing the companion bill in the senate.
The legislation awaits a bill number and committee assignment.
