COLUMBUS – Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement regarding Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Yom HaShoah is the day of commemoration for the Holocaust by the Jewish community. Yom HaShoah differs from International Holocaust Remembrance Day, as this is the commemoration of the victims from the perspective of the Jewish community.

COLUMBUS- In honor of Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17), State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) issued the following statement urging action on legislation to reduce infant and maternal mortality.  

COLUMBUS—Today, State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) recognizes National Transgender Day of Visibility and encourages support for the Ohio Fairness Act, which would protect LGBTQ+ Ohioans from discrimination in employment, housing and accommodations on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. 

COLUMBUS– State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) today announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 583, which would appropriate $338 million of federal funds to reimburse school districts and other providers operating school lunch programs.

COLUMBUS– State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) today recognizes International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. In 2021, Rep. Brent cosponsored House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 6 that declares racism a public health crisis and calls for a working group to address the issue. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland)  today recognizes Equal Pay Day, a day observed nationally during Women’s History Month that highlights the pay disparities that still exist between men and women in the workforce. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $262,500 to support elderly and disabled rental housing programs, as well as $7.5 million to develop community housing for Ohioans with developmental disabilities and $8.4 million to nonprofit agencies that support transitional and permanent housing to help reduce homelessness.
