Rep. Brent Issues Statement Against HB 296 on House Floor

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) today spoke out against the passing of House Bill (HB) 296, the Increase Contributions to Police and Fire Pension Fund bill on the House Floor.

“We have to go back to the negotiation table. This bill fails to equitably address the issue of funding police and fire pensions. Our public servants have dedicated themselves to our communities, and it is important that they get to retire with the dignity and safety they deserve. Republicans have been clear that this bill is not worth proper funding. We cannot make our cities and villages fund police and fire pensions at the expense of police and fire layoffs. We need to get this done right.”
