Speaking to the Board prior to the vote, Representative Holmes shared the personal connection he had with the legendary astronaut. John Glenn was born in Cambridge, which Holmes currently represents, and both Glenn and Rep. Holmes served as pilots in the Marine Corps. “I tell people frequently that I would never assume to be like John Glenn,” Holmes said, “but I certainly understand where he came from. I certainly understand where his value system, his work ethic and his patriotism came from.” Representative Holmes believes countless Ohioans share his admiration for Glenn’s legacy.
