COLUMBUS – State Reps. Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) and Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Twp) today introduced the Fair Access to Medical Insurance for Local Youth and Families (FAMILY) Act to eliminate barriers to healthcare coverage for Ohio’s families. Access to affordable health insurance remains one of the largest barriers to good health for Ohio families and the economy. The Family Act (House Bill 438) ensures Ohio families and small business owners will not lose health insurance due to health or employment changes. This bill is a practical, people first approach to expanding access, lowering barriers to care, and ultimately lowering health care costs around the state.

COLUMBUS – A bipartisan group of Ohio House members today is calling on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to move quickly under the state’s new utility reliability law—working together to hold FirstEnergy accountable for years of chronic outages and to deliver long-overdue improvements using the new enforcement tools in House Bill (HB) 15, which takes effect this week.

The lawmakers sent a letter to PUCO urging immediate use of HB 15’s expanded oversight powers to address chronic service failures across Ohio, with a focus on Western Cuyahoga County communities that have endured repeated outages for years.

Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) today submitted a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin opposing the agency’s proposal to reconsider the 2009 Endangerment Finding, a bedrock scientific and legal determination that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) today voted “NO” on the vote to override a school district property tax levy restriction provision vetoed in House Bill 96 (the state operating budget). Line-item 66 would eliminate several types of levies, limiting the choices voters have in how to support their schools and local governments, and would not provide real property tax relief to Ohioans. Real property tax relief is one of the most pressing needs for everyday Ohioans. House Democrats are ready and willing to work together to get that done.
