COLUMBUS — State Rep. Tristan Rader (D- Cleveland) reacted to the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM)’s recent announcement that starting on September 15th companies will be able to bid on oil and gas leases on 2,840 acres of land in the Wayne National Forest.

Ohio state Rep. Tristan Rader wants state regulators to take a close look at a plan to purchase Dayton’s electric utility, AES. The $10.7 billion deal would take the utility private — putting it in the hands of a group with few ties to the region and investments that might cause conflicts of interest down the road.

1.4 billion gallons of fracking wastewater, or toxic brine, is being pumped into injection wells for long term storage in Ohio every year. This salty wastewater byproduct of fracking is full of heavy metals,¿radioactive materials, cancer-causing benzene and hazardous chemical additives from the fracking process.
