Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima) today announced that the House screening panel tasked with vetting interested candidates for the open House District 95 seat has selected Ty Moore, of Caldwell, to fill the position.

The seat has been vacant since June 1st when former State Representative Don Jones, of Freeport, resigned to accept an appointment from President Donald Trump to serve in the U.S. Department of Agriculture as State Executive Director for the Ohio Farm Service Agency.

Moore is currently serving his third term as a Noble County Commissioner and is co-owner and vice president of R.C. Moore Lumber Company in Caldwell.

“Ty Moore has an impressive background in serving on the county level and running a local business,” said Speaker Huffman. “The screening panel did an excellent job vetting many qualified candidates and I have no doubt that Ty will be a strong voice for the 95th House District and the Appalachian region as a whole.”

Speaker Pro Tempore Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) served as the chair of the screening panel.

“Mr. Moore’s proven leadership, dedication to public service, and vision for his community make him the ideal choice to represent the 95th House District,” said Rep. Manning.

The 95th Ohio House District includes all of Harrison, Noble and Morgan Counties and portions of Belmont, Guernsey, and Athens Counties.

Moore is expected to be elected to the seat by the Republican members of the Ohio House at its next session on Wednesday, June 18th.
