Rep. Humphrey opposes GOP gun bills that would make schools and communities less safe, fail to address gun violence in Ohio

Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D-Columbus) today voted in opposition to two bills opponents say would make schools and communities less safe and fail to address gun violence in Ohio. House Bill (HB) 99 would allow school districts to arm teachers in the classroom without adequate training or safe storage requirements, while HB 227 would eliminate concealed weapon training and safety standards, including penalties for failing to notify police of a concealed weapon during a stop.

Statehouse Republicans ignore Ohioans' calls for commonsense gun safety as permitless concealed carry takes effect

COLUMBUS- Today, State Rep. Latyna Humphrey (D-Columbus) issued a statement as Senate Bill (SB) 215, Republican legislation that allows Ohioans to carry hidden, loaded handguns in public without a permit, takes effect. Additionally, SB 215 eliminates the requirement for concealed weapon training and reduces penalties if a gun owner fails to notify law enforcement they are carrying.

Rep. Humphrey votes to deliver $4,334,280 in American Rescue Plan funds to House District 26

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Latyna M. Humphrey (D-Columbus) voted Wednesday in favor of House Bill (HB) 377, bipartisan legislation to release the second, $442 million batch of local government funding from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan to Ohio’s cities, villages and townships serving 50,000 people or less.

Rep. Humphrey announces over $41 million dollars to prepare for Ohio's general election, support community development

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Latyna Humphrey (D-Columbus) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $6 million to prepare for Ohio’s general election in November. The funding will be used to print and mail applications for absentee voter ballots, including $1.2 million to cover the cost of postage.
