Rep. Jarrells: Ohio must quickly distribute federal rental assistance money to vulnerable Ohioans

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D- Columbus) issued a statement today calling on the state of Ohio to quickly distribute federal rental assistance funds to Ohioans still struggling to pay rent. Ohio risks losing $104 million in COVID-19 rental assistance money if it is not allocated more quickly.

Rep. Jarrells announces unanimous committee passage of legislation to create "Recovery is Beautiful" license plate

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) announced today that House Bill (HB) 453, to create the “Recovery is Beautiful” license plate, passed unanimously out of the House Transportation and Public Safety committee.

Rep. Jarrells encourages constituents to take advantage of $367 million home energy assistance funds available this winter

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) announced today that Ohio has received $367.4 million in home energy assistance funds from the federal government this winter to help families struggling with the cost of paying their energy bills.

Reps. Kelly and Jarrells renew calls for $15 per hour minimum wage to better support working people and families

COLUMBUS- State. Reps. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) and Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today renewed their calls for a $15 per hour minimum wage after it was announced this week that Ohio’s minimum wage will increase $.50 to $9.30 per hour for 2022. The representatives acknowledged that while the $.50 raise is a step in the right direction, it still doesn’t go far enough to fully support working Ohioans struggling to make ends meet.

Rep. Jarrells highlights key 2021 victories, says work to expand opportunity, better lives of everyday Ohioans must continue into the new year

State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today highlighted several key priorities he was able to deliver for Ohio taxpayers in 2021, including securing $2 million across District 25 and Franklin County for COVID-19 relief, $1 billion for education, and $76 million for transportation and infrastructure to assist local communities, schools, small businesses, and Ohio’s working people and families affected by coronavirus and ongoing economic uncertainty.
