COLUMBUS – State Reps. Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville) and Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) recently introduced legislation modeled after the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, a federal legislative proposal that promotes the separation of power between the state legislative and executive branches in relation to administrative rulemaking.

COLUMBUS—A measure urging the federal government to restore funding at the Piketon-based American Centrifuge Plant received its first hearing in the Ohio House Energy and Natural Resources Committee today.
 

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) and Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) held a press conference Tuesday on soon-to-be introduced bipartisan legislation to prohibit the use of state funds to end the lives of Ohioans. 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) today met with fourth grade students from Kenwood Elementary at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) was recently honored by the Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers (OARP) as one of the 2015 Legislators of the Year. Rep. Johnson was joined in this recognition by Rep. Denise Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) and Senator Dave Burke (R-Marysville).

Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) has introduced legislation to repeal the Ohio Financial Institutions Tax (FIT) on Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs). The FIT became effective in Fiscal Year 2014 on financial institutions that do business in Ohio as a replacement for the corporate franchise tax.

Today, State Representatives Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) and Lou Terhar (R-Cincinnati) held a press conference to discuss the finalized format of Ohio veteran identification cards as decided upon by the Veteran ID Material and Design Standards Committee.

State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) today announced that she will be hosting an interactive workshop for high school students titled “Ladies in Leadership” later this month.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) has introduced legislation that will provide greater access to the College Credit Plus Program for home-educated students.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jim Hoops (R-Napoleon) has been appointed by Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) as Chair of the House Development Committee for the 136th General Assembly. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) yesterday voted in support of House Bill 110, Ohio’s two-year operating budget that provides tax relief and supports job creation and retention. 

State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario) today received the “Elected Official Advocacy Award” from the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging.

COLUMBUS – Representative Callender (R-Concord) announced Tuesday his reappointment as Chair of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR). 

COLUMBUS—During a Statehouse press conference today, State Representatives Jonathan Dever (R-Cincinnati) and Alicia Reece (D-Cincinnati) discussed House Bill 380, legislation they recently introduced to create a more transparent investigative process with deaths that result from a law enforcement officer’s use of a firearm.

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) was unanimously elected president of the National Speakers Conference by his fellow Speakers of the House at the organization’s recent Executive Committee meeting in Burlington, Vermont. In 2017, Speakers of the House and their Chiefs of Staff from across the United States will come to Ohio for the 26th annual meeting of the National Speakers Conference (NSC), a bipartisan event which will be hosted by Speaker Rosenberger.

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representative yesterday passed House Bill 110, the House’s version of Ohio’s two-year budget plan. State Representative Marilyn John (R-Richland County) voted in support of the bill. 

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives today passed unanimously House Bill 134, sponsored by State Representatives Cheryl Grossman (R-Grove City) and Mike Curtin (D-Marble Cliff). HB 134 seeks to expedite the foreclosure process and transfer of unoccupied parcels, and to make other changes relative to residential foreclosure actions.

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that his office will be accepting applications for his respective appointments to the Medical Marijuana Advisory Committee. In accordance with the passage of House Bill 523, which permits the use of medical marijuana in the state, an advisory committee will be created to oversee the implementation of the new law. 
 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed legislation designating April as “Osteopathic Medicine Recognition Month.”

COLUMBUS—During today’s session, the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Concurrent Resolution 31, which urges President Obama to halt the settlement of Syrian refugees in Ohio and The United States.

COLUMBUS—Chairman of the Sunset Review Committee, State Representative Tim Brown (R-Bowling Green), today announced the remaining committee schedule through the end of the year.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth) recently reintroduced House Bill 276 from the 135th General Assembly, legislation that came as a result of constituent concerns about a proposed highway interchange in the City of Brunswick.

State Representative Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville) today introduced House Bill 591, legislation that will eliminate the need to hold special elections in Ohio if there is only one candidate appearing on the ballot to fill a vacancy in a party nomination for Congress. This will apply only when there is one person that has filed a valid declaration of candidacy or no person has filed a valid declaration of candidacy.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) and the Ohio House approved House Bill 110, otherwise known as the two-year state operating budget for Fiscal Years 2022-2023.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) today introduced House Bill 15, legislation that aims to boost power generation in Ohio while improving affordability for ratepayers and increasing reliability within the state’s electrical grid. 

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 110, the House’s version of Ohio’s two-year budget plan. State Representative Brian Baldridge (R-Winchester) was a “yes” vote on the bill. 

State Representative Steve Hambley (R-Brunswick) and State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina) today announced that they will host district office hours on August 26th at the Brunswick Public Library. No appointment is necessary to attend these events and all are encouraged to participate.

At this week’s Chagrin Falls Board of Education meeting, State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) was recognized for her exemplary support and advocacy for public education, including the Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools.
