The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 49, the state operating budget. The bill addresses some of Ohio’s most pressing issues, including more than $170 million in funding towards combating Ohio’s opioid epidemic and providing additional resources to schools.

State Representative and Chair of the House State and Local Government Committee Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) today announced that the Ohio House passed House Bill 94, legislation that would make February “Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.” 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) announced that the Ohio House plans to update the Current Agricultural Use Valuation (CAUV) formula used to calculate the property taxes of farmland in Ohio.

COLUMBUS—Today, Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville), Finance Committee Chairman Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell) and Speaker Pro Tempore Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) discussed details of House Bill 49, the state operating budget. Following the recent announcement by state leaders that spending will be restrained due to lower than expected revenue estimates, the bill promotes a fiscally sound plan by staying under the rate of inflation over the biennium and responsibly allocating funds towards areas that are most in need, such as battling the drug epidemic and funding schools. 

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 18, legislation sponsored by Rep. Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville) that would save taxpayer dollars by eliminating unnecessary elections.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) today announced that the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) has approved a Job Creation Tax Credit for an expansion project by Camaco Manufacturing in Lorain County. Through the tax credit, the company will expand its operations by over 200 jobs and will solidify $18.7 million in existing payroll (approximately 450 existing jobs) that the company currently employs.

The Ohio House Majority Caucus recently unveiled its policy platform for the 132nd General Assembly, aptly known as the “Buckeye Pathway.” The Buckeye Pathway is a member-driven initiative that lays out the major themes and priorities on which the Republican caucus will focus over this legislative term. It serves as a guiding plan as my fellow members and I introduce legislation to benefit all Ohioans.

COLUMBUS—Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) recently appointed State Representative Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) to the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission (OTIC). Rep. Patton will serve as one of the non-voting members on the ten-member board.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Al Landis (R-Dover) today announced that he will join Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine in hosting “TUSC Talk: An Evening to Discuss Heroin and Other Opiates in our Community.” The event will give individuals and families an opportunity to learn more about what’s being done at the state level to combat Ohio’s opiate abuse epidemic while discussing how it is impacting communities.
