Following the passage of House Bill 401 (Hagan/Mallory) by the Ohio House today, Speaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) commended the legislation and issued the following statement:

“Having worked with Bill Mallory for over twenty years in the Ohio House, I have great affection for him. He was a wonderful man, and above all else, he loved his family. I can often remember him giving me a hard time about spending time here at the Statehouse when I had young children at home. His dedication to his family is proven through their great successes.”

“I was honored today to speak to his wife Fanny and his children to let them know there was never any doubt in his mind about his family, the people of his district, and the city of Cincinnati. He was a great leader; always supportive and never accusatory. Through our time together, we became personal good friends, and I will never forget him.”

The bill designates a portion of Interstate Route 75 in Hamilton County, Mallory’s home county, as the “William L. Mallory Sr. Memorial Highway.” It will now go to the Ohio Senate for consideration. In addition to the passage of the bill, House Resolution 419 was also adopted in memory of former Rep. William Mallory.
