COLUMBUS – House Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima) today issued the following statement in response to the Ohio House of Representatives overriding the governor’s veto of Senate Bill 22.
State Rep. Marilyn John (R-Richland County) voted to override the governor’s veto on Senate Bill 22, which establishes legislative oversight and transparency over orders issued during a state of emergency. Both chambers approved the veto override and the bill will become law.

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House today passed legislation that changes the way information is shared between public programs such as Medicaid, child support, and supplemental nutrition assistance. This will increase effectiveness for recipients, save taxpayer dollars and assist in the detection of fraud and/or abuse.

The Drug Trafficking Deterrence Act increases criminal sentences for convicted drug traffickers to support Ohio’s law enforcement personnel and to protect Ohio families and communities.
As the chair of the House Health Committee and co-sponsor of “The Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act,” it was my pleasure to work with Representatives Sarah LaTourette and Derek Merrin to pass this important piece of legislation. The passage of this act, House Bill 214, through both the House and the Senate is a step closer towards ending discriminatory abortions based off of a Down Syndrome diagnosis.

House Bill 170 is supported by some of the biggest tech companies and national computer science organizations, such as Google and Code.org.
The Ohio House today approved House Bill 336, legislation sponsored by State Representatives Dave Greenspan (R-Westlake) and John Barnes (D-Cleveland), to help decrease the high number of Ohioans with suspended driver’s licenses.

State Representative Wes Retherford (R-Hamilton) today announced that he has introduced legislation to increase privacy for sexually oriented offense victims within Ohio’s public record law. The legislation, known as the Victims Privacy and Protection Act, exempts from the definition of a public record photographs, videos or other digital media that depicts the victim of a sexually oriented offense at the time of the offense, or when the release would violate their expectation of bodily privacy.
