Rep. Munira Condemns ICE Immigration Raids in Columbus
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Munira Abdullahi (D-Columbus) today released a statement rejecting the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Columbus.
“I strongly condemn the actions of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the harmful stance taken by President Trump regarding undocumented individuals. These policies are a direct attack on the dignity and humanity of millions of people who contribute to our communities, economy, and society. We stand in solidarity with immigrants, regardless of their status, and will continue to fight for their right to live without fear of deportation. These individuals are our neighbors, friends, and co-workers. Our communities are stronger and more vibrant when we embrace diversity, compassion, and justice, not division and cruelty. We will not allow the criminalization of undocumented individuals to define us as a nation. Together, we will resist these unjust actions and advocate for policies that uphold human rights and protect all people,” said Rep. Munira.
National news outlets report that following the inauguration of President Trump, ICE has started to ramp up its operations to arrest undocumented individuals in major cities across the United States. Local community organizations have reported sightings of ICE agents in North Columbus. These developments come as ICE intensifies enforcement efforts, which have raised concerns and sparked protests in some areas.
