LISBON — A state representative serving her first term in office visited the Beaver Local School District on Friday.

The district hosted Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana), who was visiting to discuss education requirements and legislation and gather feedback to better serve her constituents.

Robb Blasdel represents the 79th district, which covers most of Columbiana County and all of Carroll County. She is a Crestview Local High School graduate and lives in Columbiana with her husband and two daughters.

“I appreciate the invitation to meet with Superintendent Eric Lowe and his team during my recent visit to Beaver Local Schools,” she said. “Visits like this provide an opportunity for me to better understand the challenges and needs of my district, so that I can be an effective voice in Columbus. Our discussion about education requirements and current legislation was helpful as we make important decisions about the teaching of our most precious assets, our children.”

Lowe said Robb Blasdel was also able to meet some of the district’s students and hear about their learning experiences so far this year.

Specifically, she took the time to meet with Shaylynn Dennis, the recent Columbiana County Spelling Bee champion, and members of the district’s world qualifying robotics teams.

Lowe said the robotics teams were also able to share with Robb Blasdel their preparations for world competition and Washington D.C.

“We appreciate that Ms. Blasdel took time out of her busy schedule to discuss a variety of topics about education with district officials and see some of the great happenings in our district as well. It was a great opportunity for our county spelling bee champion and our world qualifying robotics teams to discuss their learning experiences this year,” Lowe said.
