State Reps. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake), Kevin Miller (R-Newark), and Sen. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) will host a press conference announcing bipartisan legislation prohibiting ticket and arrest quotas for law enforcement offices on Wednesday, February 26th at 9:00am EST in the Senate Harding Press Briefing Room at the Ohio Statehouse.

Governor DeWine Signs Bill to Raise Penalties for Felony Domestic Violence Offenders

COLUMBUS –State Representatives Kevin Miller (R-Newark) and Jeff LaRe (R-Violet Twp.) are pleased to announce that House Bill 111, which raises Penalties for Felony Domestic Violence Offenders, was signed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. 

House Bill 111, championed by Miller and LaRe, will raise the penalties for domestic violence offenders from a “low tier” third-degree felony to a “high tier” third-degree felony.

Bill Linking Organ Donor Registration to Hunting and Fishing License Applications Signed into Law

COLUMBUS – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today signed House Bill 256 into Ohio law, announced State Representatives Kevin Miller (R-Newark) and Rodney Creech (R-West Alexandria). This bill requires the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to inquire about organ donation when someone registers for a hunting or fishing license. 

 

The legislation aims to help meet the demand in Ohio for life-saving organ transplants by linking the process of registering as an organ donor to hunting and fishing license applications. Ohio has over 2,700 registered individuals waiting for an organ transplant procedure.

Governor DeWine Signs Legislation to Designate the Patrolman James P. Gardner Highway

COLUMBUS – Governor Mike DeWine has signed Substitute House Bill 81, which includes legislation to honor the life and service of Patrolman James P. Gardner. The original bill, House Bill 482, was sponsored by State Rep. Kevin Miller (R-Newark), a former member of the Highway Patrol with over 20 years of service.

A portion of U.S. Route 62, between Western Avenue and South Mahoning Avenue in Alliance, Ohio, will be designated as the Patrolman James P. Gardner Memorial Highway.

Miller Delivers $12.8 Million in Transformative Capital Funding

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives today passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state, announced State Rep. Kevin Miller (R-Newark). The bill will allocate more than $4.2 billion for capital projects, in addition to $717 million in one-time project funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund.
