COLUMBUS –State Representatives Kevin Miller (R-Newark) and Jeff LaRe (R-Violet Twp.) are pleased to announce that House Bill 111, which raises Penalties for Felony Domestic Violence Offenders, was signed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
House Bill 111, championed by Miller and LaRe, will raise the penalties for domestic violence offenders from a “low tier” third-degree felony to a “high tier” third-degree felony.

This bill requires the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to inquire about organ donation when someone registers for a hunting or fishing license.
The legislation aims to help meet the demand in Ohio for life-saving organ transplants by linking the process of registering as an organ donor to hunting and fishing license applications. Ohio has over 2,700 registered individuals waiting for an organ transplant procedure.

The original bill, House Bill 482, was sponsored by State Rep. Kevin Miller (R-Newark), a former member of the Highway Patrol with over 20 years of service.
A portion of U.S. Route 62, between Western Avenue and South Mahoning Avenue in Alliance, Ohio, will be designated as the Patrolman James P. Gardner Memorial Highway.
