Rep. Kevin Miller Highlights 11 Bills that Address His Key Legislative Priorities
State Representative Kevin Miller (R-Newark) has introduced 11 pieces of legislation since the start of the General Assembly.
“I believe these policies are right for the safety and security of Ohioans and the protection of our first responders.,” said Miller. “It’s an honor to serve the constituents of Ohio’s 69th House District.”
House Bill 44: This bill works to grant police departments the ability to fill vacant positions without a competitive examination and allows municipal police chiefs the ability to conduct training schools for prospective law enforcement officers that align with Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy standards and cadet qualifications.
House Bill 73: This legislation would establish a deferred retirement option plan for law enforcement officers in the Public Employees Retirement System.
House Bill 74: This bill would authorize a contract with a private vendor for the issuance of specialty license plates.
House Bill 75: This legislation would prohibit manufactured home park operators, condominium associations, neighborhood associations, and landlords from restricting the display of the thin blue line flag and to name this act the Chief Steven DiSario Act.
House Bill 111: This bill, the Excessive Speed Determent Act, works to impose an additional fine on drivers who exceed the speed limit by 30 miles per hour.
House Bill 131: This legislation would prohibit law enforcement agencies from using quotas for arrests and citations.
House Bill 149: This bill would combat illegal activity by imposing a fee on wire transfers. The fee will be added onto proceeds from illegal activity that are often being sent out of the country to cartels or drug organizations. The money from the fee will be used to support law enforcement initiatives combating drug and human trafficking in Ohio.
House Bill 199: This legislation would expand access to hunting for more Ohioans by allowing parents to hunt on their children’s land without a license and certain grandchildren to hunt on their grandparent’s land without a deer or turkey permit.
House Bill 201: This bill would establish statewide UTV traffic laws and safety regulations and give authority to county commissioners regarding UTV’s on county and township roads within jurisdiction
House Bill 213: This legislation would designate a portion of I-70 in Etna Township in Licking County as the “Tuscarawas Memorial Highway” in honor of the victims of the tragic bus accident that took place on November 14, 2023.
House Bill 214: This bill would create a Prior Authorization Gold Card Program for Ohio Providers, helping establish an exemption to prior authorization requirements.
