Republicans Prioritize Censorship, Discrimination Over Freedoms, Economic Growth with SB 1's Passage

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood) today voted no on Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Higher Education Destruction Act: 

“Today is a devastating day for Ohio’s institutions of higher education," said Rep. Synenberg. "If signed into law, Senate Bill 1 will damage Ohio’s economy and future by making it more difficult to attract and retain top students, faculty, and staff. Moreover, this bill represents a direct assault on our unions and the rights of dedicated educators and campus workers to use their collective voices to stand up for their students. Governor DeWine should do the right thing for Ohio and veto Senate Bill 1.”

In trying to solve problems that do not exist, SB 1 creates new issues that will increase costs, stifle growth, and prevent Ohio’s young adults from reaching their full potential.
