Rep. Synenberg Condemns Beachwood Book Burning Targeting Marginalized Communities
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood) condemns the recent burning of over 100 books checked out from the Beachwood Public Library.
“I am shocked and deeply disturbed by this hateful act. Targeting books that reflect the history and experiences of marginalized communities is an attack on our values,” said Rep. Synenberg. “We must never stay silent in the face of ignorance and bigotry. I’m proud of the way our community has responded with unity, resilience, and a clear rejection of hate.”
The individual responsible reportedly checked out more than 100 books, many focusing on Jewish history, African American history, and LGBTQ+ education, before setting them on fire. The incident has been under investigation by the Beachwood Police Department.
