Rep. Synenberg Announces over $1.3M to Renovate Higher Education Facilities, Expand Permanent Supportive Housing

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood) today announces the Ohio Controlling Board released over $1.3 million in funds to renovate institutions of higher education and renovate and expand permanent supportive housing across Cuyahoga County.

“These investments reflect our commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities across Cuyahoga County,” said Rep. Synenberg. “These investments support both immediate needs and long-term community growth.”

Dollars released by the Controlling Board today will support the following projects:

  • Over $1.3 million to Cleveland State University to enhance key campus infrastructure, improve safety systems, and modernize building environments including lobby renovation and fireproofing upgrades to the physical education and theater arts building as well as upgrading security measures across campus;
  • $450,000 to the Department of Behavioral Health and EDEN (Emerald Development and Economic Network) to renovate and expand permanent supportive housing for those who may be disabled, experiencing homelessness, veterans, or survivors of domestic violence. The funding is for ongoing development project that will expand permanent supportive housing to three different locations across Cuyahoga County; and
  • Over $212,000 to Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) to upgrade and replace signage in 38 buildings across East, West, Metro, Westshore campuses as well as Transportation Innovation Center that will include recent name changes and ensure accessibility through braille, tactical, and visual elements.
