COLUMBUS — The Ohio Jewish Caucus today released a statement following the recent deadly attack at a mosque in San Diego on May 18, 2026.

“The attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego was a deeply disturbing and hateful act. Attacks targeting houses of worship are direct attacks on the values of dignity, religious freedom, and community,” said members of the Ohio Jewish Caucus. “We must stand together and send a clear message that hate and intimidation have no place in the United States. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragedy, especially the families mourning the loss of their loved ones, and we honor the bravery and sacrifice of Amin Abdullah, the security guard whose actions helped prevent an even greater loss of life. As Americans and Jews, we stand in solidarity with our Muslim friends and neighbors and remain firmly committed to opposing Islamophobia and all forms of hate.

The Ohio Jewish Caucus is proudly represented by Senator Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson), House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), Reps. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna), Karen Brownlee (D-Symmes Township), Christine Cockley (D-Columbus), and Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood)
