Reps. Rogers, Lorenz Introduce Bipartisan Bill Designating June Male Wellness Month

Elgin Rogers, Jr. News

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Elgin Rogers, Jr. (D-Toledo) and Brian Lorenz (R-Powell) introduced bipartisan House Bill (HB) 207 to designate June as "Male Wellness Month" and the third Monday in June as "Take Your Dad to the Doctor and Dentist Day," also known as DAD Day.

“We want to encourage rural, urban, and suburban males to be comfortable discussing their health. A simple conversation with your healthcare provider could be the difference between life and death. House Bill 207 is designed to encourage family members to become healthcare advocates for the males in their lives. Good health isn't something you can buy, but you can protect the health you have through preventive care,” said Rep. Rogers.

This bipartisan legislation aims to encourage rural, urban, and suburban (RUS) males to visit their healthcare providers for preventive care such as prostate exams, colonoscopies, and mental health screenings. Preventive care reduces healthcare costs for both patients and the state by addressing health issues before they become complex and costly to treat.

HB 207 has been referred to the House Health Committee and is awaiting its first hearing.
