Rep. Rogers Stands with United Auto Workers
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) stands in solidarity with Toledo’s autoworkers from UAW Local 12 and UAW Local 14 after they voted heavily in favor of authorizing a strike. While the results nationally are not expected until later in the week, a vote in favor of authorizing a strike does not necessarily mean that a strike will happen, it simply gives union leadership the ability to call a strike. This vote is an important tool as UAW leadership works towards getting their members the wages and benefits that they deserve.
“While I am hopeful that an eventual agreement will soon be reached between the UAW and auto industry executives, this vote is a step towards safer working conditions and improving quality life by securing good benefits and fair compensation. If corporations continue to grow their profits, it is time for workers to earn their share of equity in the profits that they helped create,” said Rep. Rogers.
