COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) today announced that the Controlling Board has approved an increased appropriation of more than $2M for continued sediment removal in the Ottawa River.
“This is an important investment in Northwest Ohio. $2M in additional funding to further the Ottawa River cleanup effort will benefit our entire region. It is critical that we act as good stewards of our natural resources and this is a much needed step toward fulfilling that responsibility,” said Rep. Rogers.
The allocated funds were received through a 2022 settlement between the State of Ohio and Monsanto after the company was ordered to pay for the long-standing environmental damage it knowingly caused in Ohio with its toxic products.
