COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers, Jr. (D-Toledo) today announced two separate funding approvals for the betterment of the northwest Ohio area from this week’s Controlling Board meeting. $750,000 in capital funds for the purchase of a residential treatment facility for Unison Behavioral Health Group, Inc. was approved, as well as, a $2,000,000 increase in funding to complete remedial design work in the Maumee River.

“These are important investments in our community. Addressing mental health and substance abuse are keys to building safer, stronger communities. A new residential treatment facility will create jobs for individuals to work and help grow our economy while also fostering a safe community. This, coupled with increased funding to further improve efforts to clean up the Maumee River, makes today a great day for northwest Ohio,” said Rep. Rogers.

The residential treatment facility will create 16 beds for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, providing them with safe, 24-hour monitored, clinical interventions to help manage their symptoms. As a condition of state support for this project, Unison Behavioral Health Group, Inc., dba Unison Health has committed to providing services at this location for a period of thirty (30) years.

The increase in funding for the Maumee River cleanup will go to completing the remedial design for dredging, removing, and disposing of contaminated sediments in the Lower Maumee and Swan Creek in the Maumee River.
