Representative Callender, Lakeland Community College Announce State Approval of Capital Funding

State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) and Lakeland Community College are announcing the approval of more than $1.8 million in state capital funding by the State Controlling Board earlier today. These funds will be used to update equipment in Lakeland's Engineering Technology classrooms with equipment found in today's manufacturing industry.

Callender Announces School Funding, Tax Relief Among House Budget Proposals

State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) announces a new school funding plan and tax relief are among the highlights of the state budget proposal unveiled today by the Ohio House GOP. Today, the House Finance Committee accepted a substitute bill containing the House GOP’s version of the new two-year state budget. Callender sits on the House Finance Committee.

Callender Supports Bills Addressing COVID-19 Statistics, Increasing Healthcare Workforce, and Expanding Telemedicine

State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) voted in favor of various pieces of legislation during House session today including House Bills 163, 624, 673, and 679.  The bills address several important issue areas such as clarifying statistics released from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) regarding COVID-19, ramping up the healthcare workforce and access, enabling healthcare providers to fully utilize modern telemedicine, and ensuring that smaller governments are treated more fairly by larger governments regarding water access.

Callender Seeks Clarity and Raises Questions on Local COVID-19 Funding Distribution Process

State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord), co-chair of the House Finance Committee, met with his colleagues yesterday to hear several bills before the committee. In particular, Callender raised several questions and concerns on the process regarding Senate Bill 310, which seeks to distribute federal COVID-19 funding to local subdivisions through county auditors.

Reps. Callender and Sweeney testify on bipartisan plan to fix school funding

State Reps. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) and Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) testified before the House Finance Committee Thursday on House Bill (HB) 1, their bipartisan legislation to modernize Ohio’s primary and secondary school funding formula. HB 1 is identical to HB 305, the Cupp-Patterson Fair School Funding Plan, which overwhelmingly passed the House in December, 87-9 with 72 co-sponsors.

Callender and Sweeney Introduce the 'Fair School Funding Plan'

State Reps. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) and Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) have introduced House Bill 1 - key, bipartisan legislation to modernize K-12 school funding across Ohio. The bill is nearly identical to last General Assembly’s House Bill 305, which was a school funding reform proposal that passed the House with overwhelming support late last year.

Callender Supports Upcoming Capital Bill, Advocates for Lake County Projects

State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) announces and supports the upcoming two-year state construction budget, which includes funding for a variety of initiatives across the state as well as aid for local projects throughout Lake County. The capital bill is being included in Senate Bill 310, which is currently pending in a House-Senate conference committee.
