Derrick Hall Biography

Representative Derrick Hall serves the people of House District 34

State Representative Derrick Hall is currently serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives representing House District 34, which includes Hudson, Stow, Tallmadge, Silver Lake, Munroe Falls, and portions of Akron. Currently, Representative Hall is the ranking member of the House Veteran’s and Military Development Committee. He also serves on the House Medicaid Committee, House Energy Committee, House Ways & Means Committee, Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee, and the Ohio Facilities & Construction Committee.  Prior to his election to the Ohio House, Representative Hall served as the president of the Akron Public Schools Board of Education.

Representative Hall brings a socially pragmatic and fiscally responsible approach to addressing the critical issues we face each day in Ohio.  Representative Hall prioritizes a strong public education system, robust support for small businesses, property tax reform, enhanced healthcare access, energy policy that is environmentally friendly, and improved senior services. 

Prior to joining the legislature, Representative Hall worked with, and for, multiple Fortune 50 companies and for both large and medium sized non-profits inclusive of his work with multiple community boards. Representative Hall also currently serves his country as a U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.

Representative Hall earned his Doctor of Pharmacy, Juris Doctor, and MBA from The Ohio State University. He also attended Harvard Medical School where he earned his master’s degree in healthcare operations. He lives in West Akron with his wife and their two children.
