COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announces Sub. House Bill 291, that includes several road-naming bills, passed within the Ohio House. The bill includes Roemer’s House Bill 263 to designate a mile-long portion of County Road 321 in Stark County as “Army Sgt. Vernon R. Judd Memorial Highway.”

The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 228, sponsored by State Representative Bill Roemer (R–Richfield), which would streamline filing processes for municipal net profits taxes. Currently, businesses can opt into a system run by the Ohio Department of Taxation to pay their municipal net profits tax to the state, which then distributes the revenue to the localities to which the taxes are owed. However, those businesses are still required to notify each municipality in which they owe tax when they opt into the system.

Gov. Mike DeWine recently signed into law House Bill 442, which will create flexibility for students to take the Certified Public Accountants’ (CPA) exam earlier, and ease a number of other occupational licensing requirements in Ohio. After the enactment of legislation in 2019 to require all licenses be regularly reviewed by the state Legislature, the review process culminated in a wide-ranging set of recommendations, which were codified after being amended into House Bill 442.
