Rep. Rader Calls on Ohio Congressional Delegation to Support Impeachment Inquiry into Trump's Unconstitutional Abuses
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) today urged Ohio’s congressional delegation to support articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, citing a growing list of constitutional violations and abuses of power committed during his first 100 days back in office.
“Ohioans sent us here to serve, not to sell out,” said Rep. Rader. “I was elected to be the voice of my district—and when we see a president violating the Constitution, enriching himself off the presidency, and attaching the very foundations of our democracy, we have a duty to respond. I am proud to see articles of impeachment introduced in Congress. Now, we all need to stand up and demand accountability. If we don’t fight now, tomorrow may be too late.”
Rep. Rader’s call follows new articles of impeachment introduced by U.S. Representatives Al Green (D-TX) and Shri Thanedar (D-MI), which cite a pattern of obstruction, bribery, judicial intimidation, and unconstitutional seizures of congressional authority by the president.
Among the violations cited:
- The illegal purge of Justice Department prosecutors investigating Trump;
- Defiance of federal court orders on foreign aid;
- An executive order seeking to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education, jeopardizing billions for Ohio’s public schools; and
- Selling private White House access through a “$TRUMP” memecoin scheme.
“Ohio’s future—our schools, our courts, our democracy itself—is under direct threat,” Rep. Rader continued. “It’s not enough to shake our heads and hope it passes. Congress must act before even more damage is done.”
Rep. Rader is calling on every member of Ohio’s congressional delegation, Republican and Democrat alike, to:
- Publicly endorse an impeachment inquiry;
- Support or introduce companion resolutions to the articles filed; and
- Use all available congressional oversight tools to prevent further abuses while proceedings move forward.
