COLUMBUS – State Rep. Brennan (D-Parma) today applauds the announcement of 22 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to be built along Ohio’s interstates, state routes, and US routes thanks largely to the second round of federal funding from President Joe Biden’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.

“I am pleased that Governor DeWine is utilizing funds from the Biden administration to build out more charging stations throughout Ohio. Many residents have expressed to me their hesitation to buy electric vehicles due to the lack of charging facilities. Among other benefits, this measure will ultimately help Parma’s General Motors plant, its employees, and our community, as it will improve the comfort level car buyers have when contemplating electric options,” said Rep. Brennan.

The funds that helped make Ohio the first state in the nation to develop charging stations is thanks to support of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s efforts on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The addition of these new stations moves Ohio closer to its goal of locating fast chargers every 50 miles throughout the state.

Elective vehicles will help us meet ambitious climate goals, while providing good-paying jobs and economic stimulus to the state.
