COLUMBUS — State Reps. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) and Kevin Miller (Newark) Tuesday provided sponsor testimony in the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee on House Bill (HB) 75. If enacted, the bipartisan legislation would allow for the Thin Blue Line Flag to be displayed in any rental property, mobile home park or homeowners’ associations to honor and stand in solidarity with the brave men and women that risk their lives to ensure our safety every day.

“The Thin Blue Line Flag is used by many Ohioans, like me, to show our appreciation and respect for those who sacrifice for our safety daily, especially those who have given their lives in the line of duty or who have taken their own life due to post traumatic stress injury they received while serving,” said Rep. Brennan. “I am honored to join my Republican colleague and former state trooper Rep. Miller on this important legislation.”

This legislation would:

  • Prohibits any manufactured home park operators or landlords from including restriction in a rental agreement the prohibition of the display of a thin blue line flag;
  • Prohibits neighborhood, civic or homeowners associations from including a provision in a governing document that prohibits the display of a thin blue line flag or emblem; and
  • The bill is named after Police Chief Steven DiSario of the Kirkersville Police Department who was shot and killed in the line of duty May 12, 2017.
  • HB 75 now awaits further hearings in the House Government Oversight Committee.
