Rep. Brennan Encourages Residents to Take Advantage of Ohio's Expanded Sales Tax Holiday

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) is encouraging residents of House District 14 and all Ohioans to take full advantage of the state’s 2025 Sales Tax Holiday, which will run from 12:00am EST on August 1 through 11:59 pm EST on August 14.

“This year’s sales tax holiday is longer and more expansive than ever before, giving working families and individuals a meaningful opportunity to save money on everyday purchases,” said Rep. Brennan. “Whether you’re buying back-to-school supplies, outfitting a dorm room, or simply stocking up on essentials, this two-week tax break will go a long way.”

Key Details:

  • When: August 1 at 12:00 am EST through August 14 at 11:59 pm EST
  • What’s Eligible: Most items priced at $500 or less
  • What’s Excluded:
    • Watercraft and outboard motors
    • Motor vehicles
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Tobacco and vapor products
    • Products containing marijuana

Examples of Tax-Free Items Include:

  • Electronics: Laptops, TVs, headphones
  • Clothing: Shirts, shoes, outerwear
  • Books: Textbooks, novels, children’s books
  • Home Goods: Furniture, kitchen supplies, home décor
  • Plants: Both indoor and outdoor varieties
  • Sporting Goods: Athletic gear and apparel
  • Food & Beverages: Soft drinks, dine-in meals, and dietary supplements

“This initiative puts real money back in the pockets of Ohioans,” added Rep. Brennan. “I’m proud to support policies like this that help residents stretch their hard-earned dollars.”
