Rep. Brennan Appointed Ranking Member on Ohio House Education Committee
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today was appointed the new ranking member of the Ohio House of Representatives’ Education Committee. Rep. Brennan will now serve as the lead Democratic voice on education policy in Ohio.
“Education is the great equalizer. I know firsthand the impact that quality schools, particularly public schools, can have on a child’s life,” said Rep. Brennan. “As the son of a single mom, I was given opportunities through my education that opened doors for me, as it did for the thousands of students I had the honor of serving. Now, as ranking member, I will fight to ensure every Ohio student—regardless of zip code—has access to the resources, teachers, and opportunities they deserve.”
Rep. Brennan, who represents Ohio’s 14th House District, brings more than three decades of classroom experience as a public school social studies teacher to this new role. His years in the classroom, combined with a proven record of leadership, give him a unique perspective on the needs of Ohio’s students, families, and educators. He has earned numerous honors for his work in education and public service.
“Representative Brennan’s deep experience as a teacher and his commitment to students make him the right person to fight for our caucus’ education priorities,” said House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D- Cincinnati). “Ohio’s students and families will be well served by his passion and expertise.”
The House Education Committee oversees legislation on K–12 education, including curriculum standards, school funding, student safety, workforce readiness, and educator support.
Rep. Brennan looks forward to working across the aisle to advance policies that strengthen Ohio’s schools, empower teachers, and open doors of opportunity for all students.
