Rep. Brennan Announces Ohio's 10-Day Tax Holiday
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) announces Ohio’s upcoming, back-to-school sales tax holiday extension. In 2018, state lawmakers passed legislation making this three-day sales tax holiday a recurring holiday each year. This year Ohio’s sales tax holiday will be extended to ten days, beginning on midnight on July 30th through 11:59 pm on August 8th.
During the sales tax holiday, there will be no state or local sales or use tax on any tangible personal property priced at $500 or less, dine-in meals in restaurants, and online purchases (made within the time frame) will qualify for the sales tax exemption.
Watercraft and motor vehicles, alcoholic beverages, and any item containing tobacco will remain taxable.
“I was honored to vote for House Bill 33 to expand items that qualify and to extend the sales tax holiday. All of Ohio’s families need relief from rising prices. This provides folks an opportunity to purchase school supplies in preparation for a successful school year. I encourage all Ohioans to take advantage of this,” said Rep. Brennan.
