COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) today announced that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Forestry awarded $300K to the City of Parma Heights through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Urban Forestry Program

“I commend Mayor Gallo for her commitment to bolstering the quality of life in her community. In this case, for devoting her administration to seeking grants to benefit the tree canopy of Parma Heights. The residents should be proud to be one of the few communities selected to receive funding through this very competitive program,” said Rep. Brennan.

Urban forestry programs can use this grant funding for staffing, urban forestry planning, training programs, risk mitigation and tree planting and establishment. This grant will allow for the City of Parma Heights to contract with foresters, develop plans and hire staff for hazard tree removals and replacement.

“We are grateful for this grant award from the Division of Forestry, which will further enhance our efforts to preserve and enhance our urban tree canopy,” said Mayor Marie Gallos, City of Parma Heights.

Healthy, safe, and functional trees provide quantifiable social, economic, and environmental services to the community. This funding supplements the program’s budget, as well as facilitates growth of community forests.
