COLUMBUS – State Senator Andrew Brenner (R-Delaware) and State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) Tuesday hosted the first meeting of the Joint Caucus on School Choice at the Ohio Statehouse.

The newly formed caucus brings together members of both the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives to discuss policies that expand educational opportunities and empower families to choose the learning environment that best meets their children’s needs.

“School choice is about empowering parents so that their child can have the education that best meets their needs," said Brenner. "This caucus will serve as a platform for cross-chamber discussion and bipartisan collaboration as we seek to improve the educational outcomes of Ohio's students. I look forward to the work this joint caucus will accomplish in the months and years ahead."

The first meeting featured representatives from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, who provided a comprehensive overview of Ohio’s school choice programs, including scholarship options, charter schools, and open enrollment opportunities across the state.

“This meeting was an important first step in uniting lawmakers who share a commitment to expanding opportunity for Ohio families,” said Fowler Arthur. “We look forward to continued conversations that put students first and help make quality education accessible to all.”

The Joint Caucus on School Choice will continue to meet throughout the legislative session to hear from education leaders, parents, and stakeholders on ways to enhance and improve Ohio’s school choice landscape.
