COLUMBUS – Wednesday State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) showed her support for protecting Ohioan's Second Amendment rights by voting yes on Senate Bill 215.

Senate Bill 215 states that if an individual is over 21 years of age and meets the legal requirements to qualify for a concealed carry license then that individual can carry a handgun without receiving any additional licenses.

“I am pleased to have supported Senate Bill 215 as it remains a priority of mine to protect all Ohioans Second Amendment rights while also guaranteeing the rights of law-abiding citizens to own and carry firearms are not infringed upon whatsoever,” said Fowler Arthur.

As the bill reads, Ohioans can still apply for a concealed handgun license if they wish it but it would no longer be mandatory. Some Ohioans, for example, may seek a concealed-carry permit for reciprocity purposes when traveling to other states.

The legislation was approved by the Ohio House Wednesday and will soon head to Governor DeWine.
