Fowler Arthur Announces Grant Funding for Conneaut Police Department
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) today announced funding for the Conneaut Police Department through the sixth round of the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience program.
The department will receive $208,463 to hire one full-time officer for two years.
“The funding provided by this grant helps our first responders in the Conneaut area better protect the communities serve,” Fowler Arthur said. “Hiring a new police officer will help the department spread their workload among current staff.”
Created in 2022, the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program is directed by the Ohio Emergency Management Agency and funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
Grants may be used to address mental, physical, and emotional health issues unique to first responders; recruitment and retention efforts to restore workforce levels; and onboarding and training costs.
