State Reps. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) and Marilyn John (R-Richland County) had their Backpack Scholarship Program bill up for a second hearing at the Statehouse this week, which drew support from dozens of students and advocates throughout the state during committee testimony.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) today was appointed to serve as Chairman of the Ohio House of Representatives Transportation Committee.

State Representative McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) recently joined thousands of fellow Ohioans in Columbus at the first ever Ohio March for Life. Ohioans came to celebrate the sanctity of life in the state and discuss the importance of creating and supporting a culture of life in Ohio through legislation.  The March featured speakers representing groups such as the Right to Life Action Coalition, Columbus Christian Center, Alveda King Ministries, Ohio Right to Life, and the Center for Christian Virtue.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) and Marilyn John (R-Shelby) gave sponsor testimony on House Bill 290, the “Backpack Bill,” in the House Finance Committee this week. 

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House has passed House Bill 165, to create a temporary, non-refundable tax credit on sales of E15 and higher blended biofuels Wednesday.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Marilyn John (R-Richland County) and Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) will host a press conference on Wednesday, October 6th to announce new legislation known as the Backpack Bill. House Bill 290 will extend school choice to all students throughout Ohio, which will expand their educational opportunities. 

State Rep. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) and State Rep. Craig S. Riedel (R-Defiance) have announced that they will soon introduce a resolution to call for a Convention of States, as outlined in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. The action would put Ohio on a list with 15 other states who have already passed a similar subject resolution to reign in the federal government. A convention will only convene once 2/3 of the 50 states (34 of the total) have passed a similar subject resolution.

State Rep. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) voted to override the governor’s veto on Senate Bill 22, which establishes legislative oversight and transparency over orders issued during a state of emergency. Both chambers approved the veto override and the bill will become law.
