McClain Announces Plans for Soybean Processing Plant in Upper Sandusky
COLUMBUS – A soybean processing plant will bring more than 100 new jobs to Upper Sandusky, announced State Representative Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky).
The Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC), a leading merchant and processor of agricultural goods, will invest $500 million to construct the new plant in Wyandot County.
“Having a new soybean production plant will boost the local economy and ensure that Ohio’s soybean industry will continue to provide a quality product for markets around the world,” said McClain.
Ohio is home to 26,000 soybean farmers. Soybean production in Ohio generates $5.3 billion to the economy. LDC’s soybean processing plant will have integrated crushing, edible oil refining, and lecithin production and packaging capabilities. Construction is expected to begin in 2024.
