Rep. Munira Announces Nearly $29.5M to Improve Housing Access Across Ohio
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Munira Abdullahi (D-Columbus) today announced that nearly $29.5M in awards have been announced to help improve housing access in Ohio. The funding is part of the first round of the Welcome Home Ohio program, which is investing a total of $100M in grants over two years to help landbanks purchase, rehabilitate, or build qualifying residential properties for income-eligible Ohioans.
“Our office is excited about this step toward equitable and fair housing, especially during the worst housing crisis our nation has faced. While this is a meaningful step in housing for our most vulnerable constituents, our office will be working toward and hoping that we can take collective leaps toward securing housing for all our constituents,” said Rep. Munira.
The Welcome Home Ohio program was created in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly in the biennium budget bill, House Bill 33. In total, $29,482,200 in Welcome Home Ohio funding will be awarded to entities in 17 counties to support the creation of 263 owner-occupied, single-family homes.
