Wayne County Awarded Funding to Support Public Transit Project

COLUMBUS—State Representative Meredith Craig (R-Smithville) is pleased to announce that WayGo Transit will be awarded $205,648 in funding from the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program which works to connect Ohio’s workforce to employment centers.
The funding will be used by WayGo, operated by Wooster Wayne Community Transit, to add two larger, ADA-accessible transit vehicles to its fleet, expanding capacity and improving reliability for fixed-route service in Wayne County.
“By expanding access to transportation, this funding will directly support Wayne County’s workforce and employers and spur economic growth,” said Craig.
A total of $13.5 million was distributed to 28 public transit projects throughout Ohio.
In House Bill 54 – Ohio’s State Transportation Budget – the General Assembly appropriated $15 million per fiscal year for the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program, which supports public workforce transportation in rural and urban areas of Ohio. The program provides funding for infrastructure, equipment, technology, vehicles, and planning projects.
